END-TO-END CIVIL.

We make construction projects less stressful for our clients by doing most of the critical work ourselves.

SUBDIVISION / SITEWORK

OUR CAPABILITY

From earthworks to fully reticulated and serviced subdivisions. We can manage all aspects of the project - from initial planning to site clean-up - and carry out all site work, keeping a tight control on quality and making sure we deliver against project timelines.

OUR SERVICES INCLUDE

• Bulk excavation and landscaping

• Trenching

• Drilling and piling

• Stormwater, wastewater and water reticulation

• Power, fibre and gas

• Roading and road surfacing

• Kerbing and concrete

• Lighting, paths and street furniture

RETAINING WALLS

Retaining walls can add valuable level space to your property. Use them to transform unused sloping land, protect against erosion, or to provide an attractive cover to the face of an earth bank. We provide engineered solutions tailored to site conditions, aesthetics, and long-term performance.

WE BUILD

• Retaining walls up to 10 metres high

• Keystone or crib walls

• Mass stabilised earth (MSE) walls using geogrids

• Concrete tilt panel walls

• Gabion basket retaining structures

ROADING INFRASTRUCTURE

OUR EXPERIENCE

Our roading experience includes intersection upgrades and roundabout construction on high volume arterial routes for Waikato District Council and Hamilton City Council. We know how to effectively stage these projects, manage traffic and site safety (we have our own STMS crews), ensure environmental compliance, and coordinate work with project engineers, designers, NZTA and KiwiRail.

WE PROVIDE

• Bulk earthworks and landscaping

• 3 Waters installation and upgrades

• Kerbing and concrete

• Pavement

• Surfacing

• Lighting, signals, services

• Road marking and signage

SPECIALIST AREAS

• Thermoplastic surfacing including printed

• Pedestrian/cyclist safety improvements

SURFACING

OUR EXPERIENCE

Base Civil have surfaced highways, suburban streets, footpaths and cycleways, house pads, tennis courts, carparks and driveways. We've also built finished concrete floors for warehouses and workshops.

CHIP SEALING

Typically seen on rural New Zealand roads. A durable and cost-effective option ideal for roads, subdivisions, farm driveways and carparks without excessive vehicle turning movements.

ASPHALT

A popular construction surface, but more costly than chip sealing. Asphalt is the smooth surface used in central city streets, suburban roadways, carparks and subdivisions. Harder wearing than chip seal and certainly more attractive.

STONE MASTIC ASPHALT (SMA)

A durable surfacing material designed for heavily trafficked roads, with excellent resistance to rutting and deformation. Characterised by a high proportion of coarse aggregate that interlocks to create a strong, stone-on-stone skeleton, filled with a mortar of fine aggregate, filler and binder.

DEEP LIFT ASPHALT

A strong, single, thick layer of asphalt used in heavy-duty pavement applications, such as busy motorways and steep inclines, to transfer loads to upper pavement layers and reduce stress on the subgrade.

SPECIALTY BITUMEN MIXES

Additives can be blended to enhance the strength and durability of chip seal or asphalt products. Talk to us about your required outcomes and budget.

CONCRETE

Concrete is stronger and more resilient than asphalt, but more expensive to lay and maintain. Talk to us about polished, coloured or exposed aggregate finishes.

THERMOPLASTIC

Thermoplastic is a durable road marking material we use for surfacing and linework. It’s made with reflective glass beads, which help improve visibility at night and in low-light conditions. Compared to standard paint, it lasts much longer and doesn’t need as much maintenance. We often use thermoplastic for coloured or patterned surfaces to highlight things like crossings, cycle lanes, and other key road features. It’s quick to install and sets fast, so roads can be reopened with minimal disruption.

3 WATERS INFRASTRUCTURE

OUR EXPERIENCE

Managing water is a critical part of any job. Whether it’s subdivisions, car parks, or siteworks, effective drainage is essential to making infrastructure perform properly and stand the test of time. We have the capability to deliver all aspects of drainage in-house, giving us full control over quality, coordination, and outcomes on every project.

STORMWATER / DRAINAGE

We have the experience to deal with larger projects, including laying inside shields up to eight metres deep for both stormwater and wastewater. We use pipe lasers and specialised trench compaction equipment for accurate grade and alignment and suitable compaction. We also carry out stand-alone drainage projects such as stormwater or sewer installation and replacement.

WATER METERS AND CONNECTION TO COUNCIL NETWORKS

We install water meters to meet all council requirements. We also deliver more complex water infrastructure, including thrusting watermains — allowing us to find pathways through congested service areas and avoid the need to dig up busy roads or highways.

WATER RETICULATION

For new subdivisions and infrastructure upgrades, we install complete pressurised water networks. Our work includes mains, valves, hydrants, tees, and PE or PVC pipework. We deliver full, compliant installations that tie in seamlessly with existing infrastructure and meet all local authority requirements.

OUR SERVICES INCLUDE:

• Trenching, pipework installation, and valve placement

• Connection to council network

• Testing, commissioning and maintenance

EARTHWORKS

OUR CAPABILITY

We can tackle most sites, even those with difficult access. We excavate and move earth, rock and soil up to 2,000 cubic metres a day. We use 3D GPS technology to cut and grade to highly accurate finished levels.

WE CLEAR

• Commercial sites

• Rural land and residential sections

• Concrete, asphalt, hedges, trees and stumps

WE BUILD

• Subdivision foundations and individual house pads

• Roads, paths, carparks and driveways

• Swimming pools and tennis courts

• Retaining walls

TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

MITIGATING RISK

The three most common health and safety risks in site-based construction work are service strikes, incidents involving plant and machinery, and working around live traffic areas.

PROJECT-SPECIFIC PLANS

We create traffic management plans for each project stage. These use NZTA approved Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) systems, including barriers, signage, pedestrian detours, and reduced speed limits. Our Site Traffic Management Supervisors (STMS) ensure compliance.

PART OF OUR SAFETY CULTURE

Traffic management, like all safety measures, is embedded in our health and safety system, and supported by daily briefings, inspections, and reviews. This approach ensures a consistently safe environment for workers, subcontractors, and the public, across every site.
